I've been doing this for a while now and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Here's why:
While plodding my way through college (hated it -- sorry IU, it's not your fault), I met a couple of guys who had started a political media firm. I wowed them with my HTML multi-nested table prowess. That did it. We would soon start Resite Information Technology with those nested tables, font tags, PHP3 & MySQL 3. I was hooked.
The next 7 years were a flash. Nested tables became a thing of the past (ok, I'll stop talking about nested tables). My experiences running Resite were invaluable. I found out what it really takes to start a company and turn it into a successful one. It was both miserable and exhilarating. With SproutBox, we're eliminating much of the miserable part for other startups.
I love being a geek mentor first and foremost. I wouldn't be doing it if that wasn't true. There's some free time, so here's a non-comprehensive list of things I like to do any chance I get, in no particular order: flying (currently SEL VFR), golfing, biking, acting like I don't care, backpacking, camping (the real kind), playing tennis, traveling, drinking beer, giving people the stink eye, woodworking...
